HOLIDAY PARTY
Our Holiday Party will take the place of our regular meeting in December. Please bring joyful spirit and a nice finger food to share. If you can't muster the joy, come anyhow and we'll try to cheer you up!
Also, we decided to provide some special holiday gifts to our own Lisa Kelly who boards nearly 50 lucky cats at her no-kill shelter. This is a monumental effort she has undertaken. If you wish to participate, bring a kitty gift (food, litter, flea meds, etc.) or a gift card (such as to Petsmart) or cash. Some still need neutering/spaying or inoculations.
Katrina Rescues
Lisa Kelly still has the cats she rescued after Hurricane Katrina. We have taken on the project to help provide food for the cats. Please bring to the meeting.
EVENTS TO CELEBRATE
Mary Bruce (pictured above) was feted in March as our Woman of the Year at the St Andrews Bay Yacht Club. We showered her with music, speeches, flowers, food, a plaque, and applause from admiring friends. Guests also contributed funds for the purchase of books for the Patterson Elementary School Library. We celebrated Women's History Month with a talk about Anna Julia Cooper, who later appeared on a postage stamp.
Feast of Hearts A silent auction, a large selection of art in a wide variety, music, food, fellowship, and a raffle were part of this fund-raiser.
Candlelight Service We honored Dr George Tiller on June 10 at the UU Fellowship. It was an occasion to express our respect for the doctor and his work, recognition of the loss to women in need of healthcare, and dismay that some people believe it is honorable to murder a doctor.
